Liu Kang heals when affected by Fire, and is immune to Bleed, Poison and Power Drain effects. Incoming DOTs instead grant Liu Kang 50% Critical Hit Chance boost, and Power Drain grants 50% Basic Attack damage boost.
Team Passive
Role
Klassic Liu Kang combines direct offense with tag-in Cripple support for the whole team. He can also answer specific DOT and Power Drain threats through his personal passive.
Strengths
Fire can restore his health, while incoming DOT and drain interactions can strengthen his offense. Team entries provide a way to restrict enemy specials without requiring Liu Kang to remain active.
Weaknesses
The defensive interactions cover named effects rather than all incoming damage. Cripple-based rotations lose control value if the opponent cannot receive that effect.
Best teams
Rotation partners that benefit from a safer entry can use his team-wide Cripple regardless of sharing a named squad. Pick a second attacker to maintain pressure while Liu Kang is out.
Where to use
He is useful against Fire, Poison, Bleed or Power Drain pressure and in deliberate tag-in control strategies. Continue to manage direct damage instead of treating his effect immunities as general invulnerability.
