Equipment is one of the biggest differences between a weak MK Mobile account and a roster that can consistently clear difficult content. A strong character with random gear can struggle against blocking enemies, take too long to reach Special Attacks or die before their passive has time to matter. The right Equipment can solve those problems without requiring another character Fusion.
For a beginner, you do not need to memorize hundreds of Equipment cards. Start by understanding a few important mechanics: Block Breaker, Power Generation, reduced Power cost, survivability and Tower bonuses.
This guide is based on the current MK Mobile 7.3 environment. You can compare individual cards at any time in the MK Mobile Equipment Tier List.
The first rule: Equipment should solve a problem
Do not equip a card simply because it is Epic. First decide what the fighter actually needs. If the opponent constantly blocks your basic attacks, you probably need Block Breaker. If your character relies on Special Attack 1 or 2 but takes too long to reach it, look for Power Generation, starting Power or reduced Special Attack cost.
If the fighter dies before doing their job, Health, resistance, healing or another defensive effect may be more important than extra damage. When you are fighting inside an active Event Tower, current Tower Equipment can also provide enormous Attack and Health bonuses that only work inside that Tower.
The best Equipment setup is therefore not always the three or four cards with the highest rarity. Equipment should help a specific fighter perform their role in a specific battle.
Block Breaker should be one of your first priorities
One of the most important Equipment mechanics for a new account is commonly called Block Breaker. Equipment usually describes it as a chance for basic attacks to become unblockable.
If an enemy blocks your entire basic combo, you deal much less damage and can lose your turn. Block Breaker gives your attacks a chance to go through that defense and lets you continue your offensive pressure.
A very simple early example is Shuriken, which provides a 25% chance for basic attacks to become unblockable. Shuriken is only Common Equipment, but it currently ranks S among Common cards on MK Mobile Base because that effect solves such an important early-game problem.
Later you can replace it with stronger options. Revolvers provide a 45% chance for basic attacks to become unblockable, while Rusty Chainsaw provides the same 45% chance and gains another excellent effect at Fusion X: 50% reduced Power cost on Special Attack 2.
These are good examples of why Rare Equipment can remain useful for a very long time.

Block Breaker does not mean every attack becomes unblockable
A 45% Block Breaker effect is still a chance. It does not mean every attack in every combo will automatically ignore block.
More importantly, read the exact wording. Basic Attacks unblockable chance affects basic attacks. It does not automatically make Special Attacks unblockable.
Some other Equipment specifically provides an unblockable chance for Special Attacks. That is a different effect, so do not equip a card expecting it to solve both problems unless the description actually says so.
Who should get your best Block Breaker?
Give your best Block Breaker to the fighter who spends the most time attacking. Your main carry benefits much more from reliable basic combos than a support character who enters the fight, activates one effect and immediately tags out.
For example, a main attacker such as Kombat Cup Johnny Cage, Klassic Scorpion or another fighter built around repeated combos usually benefits greatly from basic attack Block Breaker. A passive support that rarely attacks may be better equipped for Health, resistance or another utility effect.
This principle matters more than blindly copying the same Equipment setup onto every character.
Character-specific Equipment effects can be misleading
A common beginner mistake is assuming that Equipment showing a character's name can only be used by that character. Usually, part of the item works for everyone and only the effect specifically marked with the character's name is exclusive.
For example, Revolvers provide their basic attack unblockable chance to any valid wearer, while the additional Special Attack damage bonus is specifically for Erron Black. Rusty Chainsaw also provides its Block Breaker to other characters, while its increased Enrage duration specifically benefits Leatherface.
Always separate the universal effect from the character-specific effect. This makes many older Rare cards much more useful than they initially appear.
Power Generation: why it matters
Block Breaker helps you maintain your attacks, while Power Generation helps turn those attacks into Special Attacks more frequently. A fighter with higher Power Generation reaches SP1, SP2 and eventually X-Ray or Fatal Blow faster during combat.
This is particularly valuable for characters whose main job depends on repeatedly using a Special Attack. That may include Power Drain, Snare, healing, Shield, Incurability, strong SP2 damage or another important debuff or buff.
A simple example is Dragon Essence, which provides a 15% Power Generation boost. A stronger legacy example is Soul Medallion, which provides a 20% Power Generation boost and at Fusion X also reduces the Power cost of Special Attack 2 by 50%.
That combination explains why Soul Medallion continues to appear in many practical team builds on MK Mobile Base.
Power Generation, starting Power and reduced Power cost are different
These three mechanics are easy to confuse.
Power Generation
Power Generation makes the character build Power faster during the fight. Use it when you want to perform Specials repeatedly over time.
Starting Power
Starting Power gives the fighter Power immediately when the battle begins. This is useful when your strategy needs an early Special Attack before the opponent can establish control.
Reduced Power cost
Reduced Power cost makes a specific Special Attack, or sometimes several Special Attacks, cheaper. For example, Fusion X Rusty Chainsaw reduces the cost of Special Attack 2 by 50%.
This does not generate Power faster. It simply means you need less Power to use SP2 again.
A strong setup can combine these mechanics. Power Generation plus reduced SP2 cost can allow a fighter to repeat an important second Special much more often.
What should a beginner prioritize after Block Breaker?
Once your main attacker can consistently fight through block, start solving the next weaknesses in your team.
A practical priority is:
- Block Breaker for your main attacker.
- Power Generation or reduced Power cost for your important Special Attacks.
- Health and defensive utility for characters that die too quickly.
- Debuff resistance when modifiers or enemy teams rely heavily on effects such as Stun, Freeze, Bleed or Poison.
- Healing or resurrection for endurance modes such as Krypt and Survivor.
- Current Tower Equipment when you are actively climbing that Tower.
- Specialized Brutality, Friendship and character-specific setups once your basic Equipment collection is established.
This is not a rigid rule for every fighter. If a particular character already has excellent Block Breaker through their passive or team support, you can use that Equipment slot for something else.
Health and defense are sometimes more valuable than extra damage
New players naturally look at Attack, critical hits and high damage numbers first, but extra damage does not help if the fighter is knocked out before using the Special Attack that their entire role depends on.
Maximum Health is straightforward: you have more Health available before being knocked out. Resistance can be even more valuable when a dangerous debuff is the main reason you are losing, while healing becomes especially strong in modes where Health persists between battles.
That makes defensive Equipment particularly important in Krypt and Survivor. For Krypt teams, you can also inspect practical Equipment examples in Best Teams for Krypt.
Do not build every fighter the same way
A useful way to think about Equipment is to assign each fighter a role.
Main attacker
A main attacker usually wants Block Breaker, Power Generation or Power cost reduction, damage and enough survivability to stay active.
Support fighter
A support fighter may prefer Health, resistance, starting Power, tag-in effects or Equipment that strengthens the main attacker or controls the opponent.
Boss damage dealer
A boss damage dealer often wants Block Breaker if basic combos are important, strong Power economy, current Tower Attack bonuses and direct damage amplification.
Krypt or Survivor fighter
For Krypt and Survivor, consistent Block Breaker, healing, Health, resistance, resurrection and effects that prevent unnecessary damage are especially valuable.
A strong Equipment collection is useful because you can move cards between characters depending on the mode instead of permanently locking one setup to one fighter.
Fusion can completely change an Equipment card
Do not judge Equipment only by the effect you see on the first copy. Many Equipment cards unlock an additional effect at Fusion X, and sometimes that FX effect is far more important than the original one.
Rusty Chainsaw is a good example. Its Block Breaker is already useful before FX, but at Fusion X it also reduces Special Attack 2 Power cost by 50%.
Soul Medallion provides Power Generation immediately, while Fusion X adds a 50% SP2 Power cost reduction. This means duplicates of useful legacy Rare Equipment are not wasted.
Getting those cards to Fusion X can transform them from simple utility items into core pieces of a build. Before deciding which item to fuse or prioritize, check its complete effects in the Equipment Tier List or open the individual Equipment page.
Should beginners open Equipment Packs?
Equipment Packs bought with Koins can be useful while you are still building your basic collection. A common 2026 community approach is to use them to obtain and fuse older Equipment such as Block Breakers and Power-related gear once your immediate character upgrades are covered.
Do not spend every Koin the moment you receive it. You still need Koins to upgrade Special Attacks, support cards and other parts of the account.
After establishing your basic roster, however, Equipment Packs can help you reach important early goals such as having more than one usable Block Breaker and eventually fusing strong legacy Rare Equipment.
The practical goal is simple: your first Equipment objective is not an Epic — it is a functional loadout. A reliable Block Breaker and Power setup will help in more battles than one random high-rarity card that does not fit your fighter.
Tower Equipment works differently
Event Tower Equipment deserves separate attention because each Event Tower has its own set of gear. Those items normally contain effects that work throughout the game together with additional Attack and/or maximum Health bonuses that work only inside their associated Tower.
This makes Tower gear extremely powerful while that Tower is active. A Rare or even Uncommon current-Tower item can sometimes be more useful inside the Tower than a normally stronger universal card.
Do not judge it only by its position in a general ranking. You can see active and previous events in the MK Mobile Towers section and read the full MK Mobile Tower Guide for progression and boss strategy.
Do not remove essential utility just to equip more Tower gear
This is one of the most important Tower Equipment rules.
Imagine your main attacker currently uses Revolvers for Block Breaker and you obtain an Uncommon Tower weapon with a large Tower Attack bonus. Replacing Revolvers may increase your displayed damage inside the Tower, but if the opponent now blocks most of your combos, your real damage can become worse.
Do not automatically fill every slot with Tower Equipment. Keep the mechanics your fighter needs to function, then use the remaining slots for Tower damage and Health bonuses.
For a boss damage dealer, the setup may look like:
Block Breaker + Power economy + as much current-Tower Attack as the remaining slots allow.
For a support fighter, Tower Health + resistance + utility may be more valuable.
Tower Equipment outside its own Tower
Do not automatically remove a Tower item when its event ends. The Tower-only Attack and Health bonuses stop providing value outside that specific Tower, but the item's normal effects can still be excellent.
Modern Tower Equipment includes some of the strongest universal effects in MK Mobile. That is why the Equipment Tier List evaluates versatility, low-Fusion usefulness, Fusion X effects and performance across Towers, Krypt and boss fights rather than ranking cards only by their Tower bonuses.
Rare Equipment can be more useful than Epic Equipment
Rarity does not automatically tell you which card fits a particular fight.
Suppose an Epic gives a powerful effect that your team cannot currently use, while a Rare gives Block Breaker, Power Generation, resistance or cheaper SP2. The Rare may be the better card for that specific fighter.
Equipment should be chosen by function first and rarity second. This is especially important for beginners because useful Rare cards are much easier to build around than a collection of unrelated low-Fusion Epics.
Brutality and Friendship Equipment are not your first priority
Brutality and Friendship sets are powerful and can unlock special finishing mechanics for eligible characters, but a new player should not sacrifice the basic functionality of a team just to complete a finisher set.
If equipping both set pieces means losing your only Block Breaker or Power setup, the character may become harder to play before the finishing condition is ever reached.
Build a functional Equipment collection first. Finishers become much more useful later when you have enough gear and Equipment slots to support both the set and the character's normal game plan.
Update 7.3 also introduced Stage II Ascension for selected Gold characters. At maximum Stage II Ascension, eligible characters unlock a fourth Equipment slot, which makes advanced Equipment setups more flexible. For a beginner, however, this is a long-term progression goal rather than an early Equipment priority.
How to decide whether an Equipment card is worth upgrading
Before investing heavily in an item, ask:
- Does its main effect solve a problem I regularly have?
- Can several characters use it?
- Is it useful outside one specific mode?
- Does Fusion X unlock a major new effect?
- Is the character-specific effect relevant to someone I actually play?
- Does the current Tower make its Tower bonus especially valuable?
- Do I already own another item that performs the same job better?
The Equipment Tier List is useful for comparing overall value, but your actual team still matters. An A-tier Block Breaker can be more useful to your account today than an S-tier Epic designed for a strategy you cannot yet build.
A simple beginner Equipment progression plan
At the start, aim to obtain at least one reliable Block Breaker for your main fighter. Then build a second Block Breaker so another team or secondary attacker can function independently.
After that, start building Power Generation and Power cost Equipment. Once your basic offense works consistently, expand into Health, resistance, healing and specialized utility.
While an Event Tower is active, collect its Uncommon, Rare and Epic gear whenever possible. Even low-Fusion Tower items can help you push farther in that event.
As your collection grows, stop thinking of Equipment as “the rarest card is automatically the best.” Instead ask:
What does this fighter need to perform their role in this specific fight?
That question is the foundation of good Equipment building in MK Mobile.
