MK Mobile Beginner Guide 2026 — How to Start and Progress Faster

Starting MK Mobile in 2026 can feel overwhelming because the game now has far more systems than its basic three-on-three combat suggests. Characters, Equipment, Kameos, Event Towers, Krypt, Realm Klash, Summon Trials and several currencies all compete for your attention.

The fastest way to build a useful account is not to chase every new Diamond. Your first goal should be much simpler: protect your account, build one reliable team, keep the free progression systems running, and spend valuable currencies only when they solve a real problem.

This guide is written for the current 7.3 version of MK Mobile. Rotating packs, Krypt rewards and active Towers can change, so always check the live game before spending currency on a temporary offer.

What should you do first in MK Mobile?

During your first sessions, concentrate on systems that continue helping the account later instead of opening every pack you can afford.

  1. Claim Newcomer Week, inbox and other free rewards available to your account.
  2. Link the correct profile to a WB Games Account.
  3. Learn basic attacks, blocking, tagging and Special Attack timing manually.
  4. Choose a temporary main team and invest mainly in those fighters.
  5. Progress through Battle Mode while the fights are useful for experience and early rewards.
  6. Keep Quest slots occupied whenever possible.
  7. Complete Daily Objectives and as much of each Challenge as your roster allows.
  8. Save Souls and Dragon Krystals until you understand what a purchase actually adds to your account.

Brand-new accounts can also receive Newcomer Week rewards, so check the Store and inbox instead of assuming everything useful requires currency.

Protect your account before it becomes valuable

One of the first things you should do is link your MK Mobile profile to a WB Games Account. This is the current account system used by Warner Bros. Games and the one MK Mobile now uses to help keep your game progress safe.

Do not confuse WB Games Account with WB Play. WB Play is the old legacy account service. According to WB Games Support, old WB Play accounts are separate from the newer WB Games Account system and cannot be used interchangeably. The only remaining functionality of the WB Play account website is password reset.

To link the correct account, open your War Banner or profile in MK Mobile, select Create WB Account / Sign In, and either sign in to an existing WB Games Account or create a new one. Once the link is complete, your WB Games Account should appear on the profile screen.

Linking your MK Mobile profile to a WB Games Account currently also rewards 150 Dragon Krystals. More importantly, it gives you the current supported way to protect your progress if you reinstall the game or move to another device.

Be especially careful if the game shows a progress conflict. Check which save you want to keep before confirming anything. WB Games warns that selecting the wrong progress can overwrite the other save, and lost progress may not be recoverable.

Your first team matters more than your first Diamond

A common beginner mistake is assuming that Diamond automatically means better for the account. Rarity matters, but so do Fusion, Special Attack upgrades, Equipment, passives and team synergy.

A well-developed Gold at high Fusion can be substantially more useful in early and mid-game content than a Diamond at Fusion 0. The Gold has more developed stats and may already fit a complete team, while the Diamond may still be waiting for additional copies before becoming your best fighter.

This does not mean you should ignore strong Diamonds. A low-Fusion Diamond with an exceptional passive can still be excellent support. The point is that you should build around what your account can actually develop, not around the color of the card border.

Use the MK Mobile Character Tier List to compare your collection, and check the Gold Tier List before dismissing a Gold simply because you pulled a Diamond.

A simple beginner team formula

Your first serious team does not need to be a perfect meta composition. Try to cover three jobs:

  • Carry: the fighter that spends most of the battle on the field and deals your reliable damage.
  • Control: a fighter that manages enemy Power, tagging, debuffs or another dangerous mechanic.
  • Support: a character whose passive makes the carry or the entire team stronger or safer.

If one fighter is several Fusions ahead of the rest of your roster, it is usually better to build around that character than to force a theoretically stronger team made of three Fusion 0 cards.

A strong Gold progression target

One of the most practical Gold teams currently featured on MK Mobile Base is Kombat Cup value core:

All three currently rank in S tier among Gold characters on MK Mobile Base. More importantly for progression, the team has a clear game plan without requiring three rare Diamonds or several maxed Tower Epics.

Do not treat this trio as mandatory. Your own Fusions come first. The Best Teams section is more useful as a source of team ideas than as a shopping list you must copy immediately.

How should a beginner spend Souls?

Souls remain valuable, but spending them immediately whenever you reach the price of a pack is one of the easiest ways to slow progression.

Build your Soul income first. Quest Mode, Daily Objectives, Challenges and various event rewards create a much healthier account economy than relying on occasional one-time rewards.

When deciding whether to buy a Soul pack, ask three questions:

  • Can the pack realistically improve the team I am developing?
  • Is the pool good enough that several different pulls would still be useful?
  • Would keeping the Souls give me more flexibility for a better offer or a useful event refresh later?

A cheap pack is not automatically good value. Likewise, an expensive pack is not automatically good simply because it contains Diamonds. Check the current contents and odds in the game before committing a large amount of Souls.

Quest Mode should always be working for you

Quest Mode lets you run up to three Quests simultaneously. This is one of the most important habits to establish because the characters can generate rewards while you are not actively fighting.

If you check the game regularly, shorter Quests can be restarted more often. Before work, school or sleep, longer Quests are usually more practical because an empty Quest slot earns nothing.

Do not lock every member of your only useful team into a long Quest immediately before you want to play active content. Use spare characters when possible.

How should a beginner spend Dragon Krystals?

Dragon Krystals are one of the currencies you should be most reluctant to waste. They can be used for valuable character, Equipment and Kameo offers, and Summon Pack Trials can reward additional cards after pack-opening milestones.

For a brand-new account, current 2026 community advice strongly favors taking advantage of the beginner-specific Dragon Krystal summons while those offers are still available to that account. They are designed around early progression and are repeatedly recommended by experienced players for new profiles.

That is a progression recommendation, not a rule that every temporary DK pack is bad. Always inspect the current Beginner offer, its pool, odds and Trial progress in your own Store before spending. Pack contents can change.

After the beginner offers stop being the obvious value, save Dragon Krystals until you have a clear target. Randomly switching between character, Equipment and Kameo packs tends to leave a young account with many unfinished projects.

Do not rush Kameo spending

Kameos unlock at Account Level 10, and the game gives you a first free choice between Klassic Scorpion and Klassic Sub-Zero Kameos. Learn how Kameo Attack 1 and the Perfect Block response work before deciding that your account needs a large Kameo collection.

Kameos are powerful, but early progression is still limited heavily by your main fighters, their Fusion and their Equipment. Spending large amounts of Dragon Krystals on Kameos before you have a dependable main team is usually unnecessary.

Use Koins on the cards you actually play

Koins are much easier to replace than Souls or Dragon Krystals, but they can still disappear quickly if you upgrade everything in the Kollection.

Prioritize your main fighters’ useful Special Attacks, relevant support cards and Equipment development. You do not need to max every Special on every Bronze, Silver and Gold card as soon as you obtain it.

The same principle applies to level-up cards: concentrating resources on fighters that unlock the next piece of content is more useful than keeping the entire roster at identical levels.

Which game modes should a new player prioritize?

Battle Mode is useful at the start, but modern MK Mobile progression is spread across several systems. Once more modes become available, do not spend all of your time farming only the oldest mode.

Challenges

Challenges are an important source of Gold character copies and other rewards. Complete as many towers as your roster requirements allow. Even when you cannot finish the highest difficulty, progress through the earlier parts is still useful.

Challenge requirements are also a reason not to completely neglect Silver and Bronze characters. A wider basic roster can unlock rewards that your single strongest trio cannot enter.

Event Towers

Play active Event Towers even if your new account cannot reach the top. Towers offer standard participation rewards in addition to boss and completion rewards, so an unfinished run is not automatically wasted.

Use your free attempts and learn the modifiers. Tower fights also show you which weaknesses your account needs to fix: block access, Power control, survivability, resistance or simply more Fusion.

You can inspect existing Tower pages on MK Mobile Base, while Best Teams for Towers gives you examples of how stronger accounts solve ordinary Tower battles.

Do not confuse normal Tower waves with Tower Bosses. Bosses often invalidate mechanics that work perfectly against ordinary enemies, so a team that clears floors quickly is not automatically your best boss team.

Krypt — unlocks at Account Level 25

The Krypt becomes available at Account Level 25. It is an attrition mode: damage persists during a run, defeated characters need to be revived, your selected team is locked for the run, and Krypt Hearts are used in the seasonal Krypt Store.

For your first runs, choose the difficulty you can actually finish. Completing an easier run consistently is better progression than repeatedly entering a difficulty that destroys your team early.

Normal, Hard and Elder remain part of the Krypt structure, and Khaotic difficulty has since been added for stronger accounts. Khaotic is an endgame goal, not something a new player needs to rush.

The Store changes between Krypt events. Instead of hardcoding this week’s rewards into an evergreen beginner guide, check the current Krypt rewards on MK Mobile Base before deciding what to farm.

Realm Klash and Survivor

Old guides may still call the competitive mode Faction Wars, but it has been reworked into Realm Klash. The current system includes Quick Play, Survivor and Klash Towers, with each contributing to the broader competitive progression.

Survivor rewards roster depth and resource management more than a single glass-cannon team. Health, defeated fighters, exhaustion and Equipment availability matter across your runs, so avoid sacrificing your best team carelessly in an early fight.

Klash Towers become available once the account reaches Level 30. You do not need an endgame personal collection to build the defensive Tower because the mode provides cards for its Tower-building phase. Learn the mode when it unlocks rather than ignoring it because your normal roster is still young.

Shao Kahn’s Tower and Talents

Shao Kahn’s Tower is worth progressing because Talent Points improve account-wide Talent Tree builds. Do not scatter points randomly just because a node is available. A coherent offensive, defensive or support setup is much more useful than many disconnected low-rank talents.

Equipment is part of your progression, not an afterthought

A strong character with random Equipment is an unfinished character. Gear can solve problems that raw stats cannot: block breaking, Power generation, survivability, resistance, healing, debuffs or Tower-specific damage.

For early accounts, reliable access through enemy block is especially useful. For example, Revolvers currently provide a 45% chance for basic attacks to become unblockable before their other effects are considered.

This does not mean every fighter should wear Revolvers. Covert Ops Cassie, for example, already gives Spec Ops teammates a 25% unblockable chance through her passive, which may let you solve the same problem differently.

Use the Equipment Tier List to understand which pieces remain useful outside one specific team. For active Event Towers, however, do not ignore lower-rarity Tower Equipment simply because it ranks below a universal Epic: the Tower-specific attack and health bonuses can matter far more inside that event.

Common beginner mistakes that slow an account down

  • Opening a pack every time you have enough currency. Saving is valuable because it lets you act when a genuinely useful offer appears.
  • Building ten characters at once. Develop one main team first, then expand your roster for Challenges, Krypt and Survivor.
  • Replacing a fused Gold with every Fusion 0 Diamond. Judge the complete card, not just rarity.
  • Ignoring passives and team synergy. A support fighter can improve the battle without ever becoming your main attacker.
  • Ignoring Equipment. Fusion alone does not solve block, Power, healing or modifier problems.
  • Spending heavily on Kameos immediately at Level 10. Learn the free Kameo first and continue developing your core fighters.
  • Skipping Event Towers because you cannot finish them. Participation itself can produce useful rewards and Tower Equipment.
  • Choosing Krypt difficulty for prestige instead of consistency. The best difficulty is the one your current account can farm efficiently.
  • Using every Soul on Tower refreshes too early. Extra attempts are valuable only when your roster can turn them into meaningful progression.
  • Failing to secure the account. A developed collection is worth protecting before you start changing devices or login methods.

A practical plan for your first week

Day 1 — secure the account and learn your carry

Claim available new-player rewards, link the correct WB Games Account and choose the strongest practical trio from what you actually own. Learn the basic attack rhythm and Specials of your main fighter instead of relying entirely on Auto-Battle.

Days 2–3 — establish your free progression loop

Keep Quests running, complete Daily Objectives, advance Battle Mode and enter Challenges you can meet. Concentrate upgrades on the small group of characters doing the work.

If you reach Account Level 10, unlock your free Kameo and start learning the mechanic without turning it into your main spending priority.

Days 4–5 — test event content

Use active Event Tower attempts and examine why fights become difficult. Start treating Equipment as part of the solution rather than simply equipping the highest-rarity pieces you own.

As your collection grows, compare it with the Character Tier List, but remember that your own Fusion levels can change which character is best for your account today.

Days 6–7 — prepare for the next progression layer

At Account Level 25, start learning Krypt on a manageable difficulty. At Level 30, add Klash Towers to your Realm Klash routine. Neither milestone requires you to abandon the Gold team that got you there.

At the end of the week, review your resources before opening more packs. Ask what is actually stopping progress: lack of Fusion, poor Equipment, missing control, weak survivability, narrow roster depth or simply attempting content designed for stronger accounts.

What should you focus on after the beginner stage?

Your next objective is consistency. Build one dependable high-Fusion team, then a second and third team for modes that reward roster depth. Improve Equipment alongside characters and learn how different modifiers change the value of your normal strategy.

Diamonds become increasingly important as you obtain more copies, but do not abandon the Gold characters that continue clearing content efficiently. Your account becomes strong when characters, Equipment, Talents, Kameos and mode knowledge work together.

If you are unsure what to develop next, compare your roster with the Character Tier List, inspect practical compositions in Best Teams, and check the current Krypt rewards before committing your next large batch of resources.

Thank you for reading, and good luck with your MK Mobile account progression!
